Take me back to this Papago Golf Club wedding! As an Arizona wedding photographer, I’ve been lucky enough to capture a few weddings at this iconic venue. It really does have the best of both worlds: the stunning red rock of the Papago Buttes and the lush green fairways of the golf course. It’s like desert magic meets elegance and it was the perfect setting for Shelby and Matt’s wedding day.
The ceremony took place with the Buttes as the backdrop, and let me tell you, when the sun started setting — wow! That Arizona golden hour lighting made everything quite literally glow. The couple kept their décor simple, letting the natural surroundings take center stage. As a wedding photographer, I love when venues like this can shine on their own.
Once the ceremony wrapped up, we moved into what I like to call “golden hour magic.” Arizona’s sunsets are something special, and the way the light reflects off the desert landscape is incredible. The couple’s portraits were some of my favorites, with the golden sunlight highlighting the bride’s dress and the groom’s suit against the rugged, reddish backdrop. It was one of those moments where everything comes together beautifully — the scenery, the light, and the love between the couple.
The reception was held on Papago’s patio under twinkling string lights, which added to the evening’s cozy, romantic vibe. Guests mingled and danced outside under the stars, and the rest of the night was just as perfect as the day.
